Neptune Rx in pisces
3rd July 2024 - Melbourne 8:40pm, London 11:40am, San Francisco 3:40am
A planetary cycle is the time a planet takes to orbit the Sun, usually measured from the moment of observance. Neptune’s cycle is approximately 164.78 years so it can spend just under 14 years transiting each zodiac sign. Neptune entered Pisces, its sign of Rulership, in early 2012 and will remain in this mutable water sign until the end of January 2026. This is a lifetime event for all of us as Neptune will not return back into Pisces until long after we’re gone.
Neptune is the planet of inspiration where the limits of imagination can seem endless. It can awaken the dreamer within to believe that anything is possible. Under this transit the dreaming part is made easy, but the application becomes challenging as Neptune’s path is that of illusion. We may think we’re heading in the right direction, putting our energy to good use only to find that somehow, we’ve got lost along the way. The plan can become shrouded in confusion, the instructions can become ambiguous and what we’ve managed to achieve can dissolve right in front of us. So where can that leave us?
Rather than feeling anxious, futile or discouraged, maybe the solution lies in establishing a belief or trust in something that is greater than what we can humanly perceive and simply surrender. Sometimes trying to understand Neptune’s influence is like trying to hold water in your hands – you just can’t do it. You have to find the resources outside of yourself to assist you in your endeavours.
In May 2024, Neptune’s conjunction to the fixed star Scheat became exact at 29 degrees Pisces. Harmoniously Scheat can represent an influx of mental stimulation and creativity, inventive inspiration and psychic ability. Discordantly it can represent the inundation of water, drowning and overwhelm (physically and metaphorically). In the months leading up to this placement Brazil, UAE and Kenya experienced devastating flooding due to intense rainfall. This has become more commonplace over the last decade.
Personally, look to where Pisces shows up in your Natal Chart as this is the area of your life that has been under the Neptune in Pisces influence for many years. Remember that the orbit of outer planets like Neptune is slow. When one of them enters a natal house by transit, their presence can be quite subtle at first. It’s only when the transiting planet moves into aspect with one of your personal planets or points that the impact has a more direct relevance to your life.
Having an outer planet enter a Natal house by transit is like having a guest come into your home who is quiet and prefers to keep to themselves. Even though they are not being terribly intrusive, their presence has now changed the dynamic of your home and private space. It’s only when they may want something or have a reason to make direct contact, that you will no longer be able to ignore them and be expected to respond. Cause and effect now come into play.
So, from now until the end of December this year whilst Neptune is in retrograde motion, it may be a good time for reflection. As Neptune travels through its final degrees of Pisces, take a moment to look back at your life over the past 12 years to understand how Neptune has presented. Look to the Piscean house(s) of you chart to consider:
When the dreamer in you (your imaginative self) may have come face to face with reality. How did you deal with this encounter? Did it interfere with your plans, maybe leaving you feeling discouraged or did you manage to integrate the two to achieve a desirable outcome?
Where did truth show up for you (from within or without)? Did lies or deception threaten to undermine that truth?
Acts of selfishness versus selfless actions. How were these justified or prioritized by you?
Where did you find beauty and inspiration? Did they present freely or were they shrouded from view?
