Mars will turn direct tomorrow after being retrograde since late October 2022.

I like to think of Mars as the “red” energy which is all about action, movement, force, aggression, assertion, heat, courage, initiative and desire. This energy is always raring to go and needs physical movement to maintain a healthy flow and expression.

Mars is the energy that compels us to initiate action; the energy we call upon to find the courage to keep going and the energy that drives assertive expression when firmly establishing our boundaries. Force can conjure up some confronting imagery but it is this energy that is required to move through obstacles. Aggression can also be confronting but at times necessary when protecting ourselves or fighting against injustice and harm. This is all Mars and how we use this “red” energy defines the character of Mars.

When Mars turns retrograde there can be a tendency for frustration. This energy becomes internalized, potentially stagnant with no real outlet for release. Our actions can become misunderstood or misdirected. Mars doesn’t do patience, which can be problematic within a period of retrograde.

But when Mars is retrograde, it can be an ideal time to:

·        Reassess your directives

·        Realign the intent of your actions

·        Reassign your energies

·        Recover from injury, overwork and over use

·        Reaffirm active pursuit of goals

So, with Mars about to go Direct, take a moment to reflect upon which parts of your Natal chart (between 8-25 degrees Gemini) have been battling through this latest retrograde period - which areas of life (houses) and parts of personality may have been triggered (aspecting other chart points and planets) over the past couple of months.

Mars direct will support forward motion once more, enabling relief and release. You may feel a surge of energy and positive foresight, excitement or just a “phew that’s over!”. Your actions can once again align with and support your intentions.

Mars in adaptable and versatile Gemini until the last week of March, will give agency to your thought processes and allow you to actively follow through with ideas that may have been brewing for some time. You may feel more inclined to go out and interact with others. Conversations may become more lively and animated with a clearer focus and more inclusive forum. Mars in Gemini gives the bounce in your step.

Also at this time, the Sun is approaching Pluto in Capricorn where the conjunction will become exact on 19th January 2023 at 1:51am AEDT (18/1/23 @ 2:51pm GMT)

So whilst Mars is finding its feet and beginning to regain forward momentum, the Sun & Pluto will provide a powerful surge of energy to set a Mars resurgence well on its way.
