Jupiter, being the largest planet in our solar system, fittingly represents expansion and growth. A Jupiter transit encourages broadening the scope of what we know and what we believe. It invites a more philosophical approach, an expansion of consciousness to whatever it is we’re dealing with right now. It can bring luck and a hope that there could be a higher meaning to life’s lessons that can leave us feeling a little worse for wear. Jupiter represents law and the systems that aim to maintain fairness and societal norms.
I often think of Saturn’s energy as cold and restrictive. Saturn tends to always have one foot on the brake as a cautionary measure to ensure things don’t get out of hand too quickly. Through Saturn we are reminded of our responsibilities and position, that our actions have consequences, that uniformity comes from discipline and order. Saturn also represents the “great teacher” whose wisdom comes from the integration of experience.
So, when these two planets come together in aspect, what can we do?
· Jupiter is expansive, Saturn is restrictive
· Jupiter is hope, Saturn is fear
· Jupiter is the leap of faith, Saturn is the wisdom of experience
· Jupiter is what we believe, Saturn is what we know.
An analogy that comes to mind is being a kid wanting to go outside and play in the rain and puddles just for the pure joy and fun of it and having a parent/authority figure trying to stop you going out the door, reminding you that you must put on your raincoat and gumboots so you don’t catch a cold or get sick….Jupiter the kid, Saturn the parent/authority figure, each with good intention. Saturn can be the little voice in your head that reminds you to be careful when you’re wanting to take chances.
Because these two planets come together in a square aspect, the challenge will be to figure out what makes this combination work, how to overcome the obvious obstacles that may arise.
Jupiter will help push against anything that feels restrictive, limiting and outdated.
Saturn will keep Jupiter in check, so things don’t get overdone.
Jupiter will help overcome fear
Saturn will know the difference between trepidation and fear and help temper the process
Jupiter will test our luck
Saturn will let us know when we’ve gone too far.
Jupiter is still conjunct Mars, although separating, so the urge to try new things or give birth to something new still has some momentum.
Saturn is also opposite Venus so the relationship between love and duty, creativity and convention can be a little tense right now.
Jupiter in Gemini and Saturn in Pisces meet in square aspect at 17degrees. Check your natal chart to see what planets or points you have at this degree in mutable signs or in which houses these two planets are positioned. This will help identify what areas of your life are impacted.
