JUPITER IN TAURUS
Jupiter, the planet of expansion and growth, entered Taurus on 17th May 2023 at 4:21am AEST (16th May at 17:21 GMT) and will remain in the arena of this fixed earth sign until May 2024.
Jupiter can bring luck and hope to whatever area of our chart it touches and has big, exaggerated energy.
A dear friend was telling me today about “duende” which is a Spanish term relating to the quality of passion and inspiration, which I thought was so relevant to a Jupiter in Taurus transit. This is a perfect time to focus on all that fills us up. Jupiter in Taurus, with a little bit of duende thrown into the mix, invites us to be mindful of how our body may respond or physically react to external stimuli which can either trigger an emotional reaction or prompt a creative impulse. It can be as simple as an encounter with a piece of art or poetry that draws a smile; an interaction with another who makes our heart skip a beat; a song or piece of music that arouses our body to move, dance or sing. So, through all the Jupiter style boons and busts that this coming year may hold, don’t forget to allow a little “duende” to filter in.
Jupiter in Taurus is concerned with “the law of the land”, the governance and traditions that impact our natural world. Under this transit there is an opportunity to acknowledge the space we physically occupy and the impact of our position. We may feel called to embark on conservative endeavours, attune ourselves to the rhythms and cycles of nature, seek wisdom and truth from the land, hold celebratory rituals or events in reverence for this earth that is sacred. Jupiter in Taurus brings a greater awareness to earth based issues.
Jupiter in Taurus can also highlight financial matters and the value we place on our possessions. Our capacity to earn may increase which could lead to greater choices as to where we spend our money. This placement may lead us to question our motivations around money, earning, financial status and how tied up they may all be with our personal perception of value and worth. Through the course of this year, we could develop a clearer focus as to what our possessions mean to us and why we hold onto them. Is it because they’re a source of comfort and pleasure? Do we keep them for their sentimental value? Do they represent our current position in life and how far we’ve come? Are they tokens of our success? Do we attach status to them?
Jupiter asks us to look at the bigger picture, to find meaning to life that is greater than ourselves. It is recognising our place in the world, how much space we take up and whether it enhances or impedes what’s left for anyone else. It’s having the wisdom of knowing when to step in and when to step out. Jupiter represents our willingness to learn, to remain curious and look beyond the restrictive influences that keep us small. It’s our willingness to see another’s point of view; accept another’s way of being, acknowledge that things are not always as they seem or how we’ve been led to believe them to be.
Jupiter’s energy is full, abundant and can easily tip over into an exaggerated state, so be careful. When indulging into the earthly pleasures that Taurus represents, it’s important to exercise a bit of self-awareness to know when “too much of a good thing” can be too much and therefore lead to excess. It’s wise to know where the tipping point is.
Jupiter won’t be back in Taurus again for another 12 years so make the most of it. You may get to the other side with a whole new outlook or philosophy on life in the material world. Maybe there’s even a few “aha” moments along the way.
Pluto in Aquarius is now squarely aspecting Jupiter in Taurus, creating some challenges to this placement. Pluto generally has transformative qualities which can create a surge to any growth areas triggered by Jupiter in your chart. The Plutonian Phoenix rising from the ashes can be a great analogy for the desire to spread your wings beyond their current reach. The energy of Pluto can help demolish any obstacles we may come up against that can hinder the potential for expansion beyond our current position.
On the other hand, Pluto’s influence can also bring in power struggles that threaten to destabilise our position and make it difficult to get to where we want to be. We may have to tap into our own personal power bank to break through any obstacles that arise. Whatever has good foundations will get through this Pluto/Jupiter aspect but whatever doesn’t will crumble and fall away.
Jupiter in Taurus, along with Pluto in Aquarius is particularly relevant to the areas of your chart ruled by the fixed signs (Taurus, Aquarius, Scorpio, Leo).
If you would like to delve in deeper to the how the above impacts you personally, I would recommend and Natal + consultation.
